Cubbies - No Fall lessons - will be offered again in the Spring!

Bruins - Novice Level

Black Bear - Intermediate Level

We're excited to offer these programs designed for novice and intermediate level riders.  This Fall we are offering two (2) different Mountain Biking Programs: Bruins - Novice Level and Black Bears - Intermediate Level. Over the course of four lessons in September and October, riders will learn foundational mountain biking skills through hands-on instruction, trail rides, and games that make learning fun. Participants will be coached by the amazing team from Boys & Girls Club of Greater Shasta, featuring professional BICP-certified instructor.   Instructors keep things safe, supportive and exciting through skill-appropriate learning experiences, creating a fun environment for every rider!

Cubbies - True Beginner Level Program - To Participate: NOT OFFERED IN FALL OF 2026

ALL participants must be riding on their own and have Front and Rear Handbrakes (NO coaster brakes)!  Riders are able to ride alone on flat ground and have little to no mountain bike trail experience.  Lessons will be taught on flat blacktop and progress to dirt trails.  Cubbies will gain confidence and foundational skills through fun games and basic skills.  Ideal Cubbies age is 4 - 6 years old.

Participants have little experience on dirt and Green Circle level trails.  Riders should have decent balancing, braking and cornering skills.  They should be able to ride on their own for 15-20 minutes with minimal assistance or walking.  The goal is to continue building confidence and get riders ready for our Black Bear Program and Blue Square Trails.  Bruins will start out on flat ground and progress to dirt trails.  Any participants from recent Novice Level programs are welcome!

They have good braking, cornering, and balance skills and can ride on trails for at least 30 minutes without assistance.  Any participants in the recent Intermediate Programs are welcome!  Our goal is to perfect skills and get the riders ready for Advance Level Programs and Trails in the future.
