About Us

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Shasta provides a safe, enriching, and supportive environment where young people can learn, play, and grow beyond school hours. When school’s out, Clubs are in—offering a vital resource for working families and ensuring that youth have structured, high-quality programs during after-school hours, holidays, and summer breaks.

Our mission is to serve youth when they need us most—during the critical hours when they might otherwise be home alone or in unsupervised environments. At BGCGS, children and teens find a sense of belonging, caring mentors, and the opportunity to build confidence and essential life skills that set them on the path toward GREAT FUTURES.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a proud member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). BGCA provides us with valuable safety standards, programming resources, and national best practices to enhance our impact. However, we operate independently when it comes to fundraising and financial support—we do not receive direct funding from BGCA. Instead, we rely entirely on local grants, community support, and individual donations to sustain and expand our programs.

Our Impact

  • 350 youth served annually between our two sites

    • 125 elementary school members (TK-3rd) at our Mount Shasta Elementary site

    • Sisson Middle School serves up to 75 members, grades 4th-8th

  • Partnership with Mount Shasta Union School District (MSUSD) to enhance programming and expand access. Our Clubs are located within and operate out of the district school sites.

  • Expanded summer programming, reaching members from multiple school districts in Siskiyou County

  • Affordable, high-quality programs ensuring accessibility for all children

“The Boys & Girls Club has been a game changer for our family. Knowing my kids have a safe place to go, with positive role models and engaging activities, gives me peace of mind every day.” — BGCGS Parent

“I love coming to the Club because I get to try new things, hang out with my friends, and get help with my homework. It’s my favorite part of the day!” — BGCGS Member

Our Programs

Since opening in 2017 at Sisson Middle School, BGCGS has been committed to empowering youth through a wide range of programs led by professionally trained staff. We focus on three key priority outcomes:

  • Academic Success – Homework support, literacy programs, and Power Hour, which collaborates with local teachers to align with student learning

  • Good Character & Citizenship – Leadership clubs, community service, and social-emotional learning initiatives

  • Healthy Lifestyles – Sports, outdoor adventure programs, and nutrition-focused activities

Our programs include STEM projects, gardening, arts and crafts, pottery, music, games, and physical activities, ensuring that every child has access to meaningful experiences that foster growth, creativity, and leadership. Through our strong partnership with MSUSD and support from the local community, we continue to expand and strengthen our programs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
